On July 29, 2004 I was rock climbing and I fell over 35 feet. I landed feet first and the impact caused me to have multiple fractures. My injuries included a broken back and several ribs. My most severe injury was an exposed, open fracture of my ankle. Because of the severity of my injuries, the Emergency Doctor who attended to me referred me to Dr. Brinker at Texas Orthopedic Hospital.Dr Brinker and his staff were excellent. They quickly assessed my leg and I went from almost losing my limb to mountain biking within 12 months. I can't thank Dr. Brinker and his staff at the Fondren Orthopedic Group enough for giving my mobility back to me.

I sustained an open fracture of the left tibia in a “freak” accident involving an automobile on May 20, 2007.

Initial debridement and wound closure was performed by an orthopedic surgeon within 4 hours of the accident and further debridements were performed 3 days later.

On June 1, 2007 the 3rd surgery involved internal fixation with surgical placement of a titanium rod. I then began many months of physical therapy after which I faithfully used a bone stimulator for the prescribed weeks. By February 2008, after many x-rays and continued pain, I was told by the treating orthopedic surgeon that I needed more surgery. I obtained a second opinion which confirmed this need.

I finally met with Dr. Mark Brinker who was foremost concerned as to why my tibia had not healed. I had been taking Hydrocodone, Advil, and Celebrex since my accident on May 20, 2007. Dr. Brinker asked me to stop taking any medications that contained an anti-inflammatory component as they stop bone healing. Dr. Brinker referred me to an endocrinologist for a metabolic bone disease workup to determine if there was a metabolic reason for my non-healing. There was no evidence of a metabolic reason for my continued nonunion.

At this point I decided to continue my care with Dr. Mark Brinker, who specializes in treating fracture nonunions, malunions, chronic deep bone infections and limb deformities. On July 1, 2008 I had my 4th surgery since the accident. Dr. Brinker performed a treatment of my left tibia nonunion with bone graft. I was placed in an Ilizarov Taylor Spatial external fixator to straighten the severe deformity in my tibia which was still broken and quite crooked. My wife and I had to adjust the fixator daily as per the instructions of Dr. Brinker. Several months later the external fixator was revised and then finally removed about 7 months after our initial surgery.

I cannot praise and thank Dr. Mark Brinker and his staff enough for encouraging me throughout the process until I was fully healed and totally free of pain. I have completely normal function of the involved leg, it is healed and straight. I fear my story would have had a much different outcome without Dr. Brinker’s expert help.

Dr.Brinker and his complete staff are absolutely fabulous! They are very thorough very professional, and actually a delight to be in the company of. I met him and the crew yesterday for the first time, but I felt as though I’d known them a long time. Dr.Brinker will be preforming surgery on me next month and I feel confident that I’m in good hands!!

Dr. Mark Brinker has my unconditional support. I’m fortunate to have had him perform my surgery. I was being seen by an orthopedic surgeon from another hospital regarding my hands & he asked about my right hip. He knew I was in a great deal of pain. This clinic is incredible. The doctors and staff are great and really care for their patients. My surgery went well and was as pleasant as could be. Very pleased with this clinic.

It's been over 18 year's since I first saw doctor Brinker and he still treated me as it was his first time even referred me to another great doctor David loncarich they bought treated me great not just as another dollar they could make thank you Lord for doctors like them

Very organized office! Waiting is minimal. Dr. Brinker is very kind, detail oriented, straight to the point and listens well!! All employees I have come in contact with have been very nice, friendly and so nice!

After being released for Physical Therapy following a year long and two surgeries procedure, I had a scare following my first week of Physical therapy. I called to get checked out and Dr. Brinkers team got me in within a week to get x-rays. Fortunately everything is fine, just a slow healing process, however they took me seriously and followed up to my concerns. Very impressive.

dr. brinker was the ONLY doctor able to diagnose me of my rare disability (miserable malalignment syndrome) !!! he was AMAZING and hilarious!! he made much more light of the situation than any other doctor could!!! i was one of the youngest patients, and he did my femur osteonomy when i was just 13 years old. painful but WORTH IT!!! now i wont develop arthritis early. Well all I have to say about Mr Brinker,M.D. is that he is a straight up Dr. Who is not going to feed you some b.s. about your restrictions. Now you either can respect or reject what he says and and don't take anything personal and just do your best is what was told to me. It's all good.

Dr. Brinker is 1 of the best Orthopedic Drs in the world & we're lucky to have him here in Houston. He performed a femur straightening procedure on me through the smallest of incisions ...new definition of "minimally invasive" ....would recommend him to anyone with complex Orthopedic issues ...he's your guy.

Dr. Brinker was right on top of everything when he was handed my case. He was informative, I even remember laughing at one point which is unusual for me cause doctors make me nervous, but Dr. Brinker made me feel very comfortable.
