Limb Lengthening: Humerus

Presenting

This 32 year old woman had severely fractured her arm when she was 5 years old. The fracture caused the bone to stop growing and caused a deformity of the shoulder joint. This x-ray taken upon referral to Dr. Brinker's office shows that her right humerus was 5 inches shorter than her left.

Treatment in Progress

This x-ray taken during treatment shows the Ilizarov external fixator in place and shows the humerus is being gradually lengthened at two different levels.

Result After Treatment by Dr. Brinker

These x-rays taken after Ilizarov treatment with lengthening show that the right arm is now equal in length to the left arm.
