Deformities Ankle

Presenting

This 42 year old man was referred in  16 weeks after an ankle fracture following treatment with casting at an outside facility by other physicians. The fracture was not healing and as a result the ankle joint was misaligned. The patient was unable to walk without crutches and was having severe constant pain.

Treatment in Progress

These x-rays show treatment in progress using Ilizarov deformity correction to realign the ankle joint.

These images taken after Ilizarov treatment show that the bones are healed and ankle alignment is restored. The patient has no pain and can walk and participate in all of his usual activities without assistance.
