Deformities: Forearm/Wrist Case 1

Presentation

This x-ray and photograph show a 73 year old woman 8 months after her injury initially treated at an outside facility by other physicians. She was referred in  with a severe, fixed, irreducible deformity. The patient had post-traumatic arthritis that required wrist fusion, but the displacement of her wrist could not be manually realigned to allow for the fusion surgery.

Treatment in Progress

This x-ray and photograph during treatment show the use of the Ilizarov method to reduce the deformity and realign the wrist.

Result After Treatment by Dr. Brinker

The final x-ray shows the correction of the deformity, followed by wrist fusion to treat the post-traumatic arthritis.
